2012 Letter from the President
Spring has arrived early. Sign up now for what promises to be a long and enjoyable season. Please sign up before May 1 to avoid a $5.00 increase. We will not be mailing out the shoe tags this year instead you can pick up your 2012 shoe tag from Cecil Carr our Court Supervisor after May 1st.
As you know the Forest Hill Tennis Club is solely responsible for the maintenance of our courts and related infrastructure including the playing surface, lights etc. The Toronto District School Board does not have the budget to pay for the upkeep or improvement of the courts. Therefore we have submitted an application to the Trillium Foundation for financial assistance in resurfacing all four courts. In the event that funding is granted to the FHTC we will endeavor to have the resurfacing work done at the end of this season.
Being a member of the FHTC offers great value:

Nets Are Up
We put up the nets this morning so you can play tennis. The club officially opens on May 1 and Cecil will be at the club starting on May 1.
We have been advised by the School Board that they plan to install the new lighting posts on the north courts over the next two weeks. Access to the north courts will be restricted while this construction process is carried out.

The FHTC executive has signed a 10 year lease agreement with the Toronto District School Board for the use of the tennis courts at Forest Hill Collegiate. We have also contracted to have the light poles replaced on the north courts at our expense. The light poles have been ordered and we expect the work to be completed by mid-May.
Our membership fees have increased this year as we now charge the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). While fees have increased we will be able to recover the HST on expensive capital projects such as the replacement of the tennis court lights and the eventual resurfacing of the courts.
